About
The Pakistan Data Observatory was founded by Nuzaina Faisal Khan, a Rhodes Scholar whose work focuses on data and AI governance in high-stakes settings.
The Observatory exists to make it easier to find out what data Pakistan's government uses, how, where and why. This register is its first publication. It takes ten federal systems that hold records on large parts of the population and sets out, question by question, what each responsible agency has put on the public record.
Independence
The Observatory is not part of any government body, political party or company. It takes no money from any government body or from any agency on the register.
No agency saw its record before it was published. Each is sent its record once the register is live. What was sent, on what date, and what came back is on the Agency replies page.
Corrections
If an answer on a record is wrong, use the form below and include a link to the page that shows it. You will have a reply within ten working days, which is the time the Right of Access to Information Act gives a public body to answer a request. If the source is public and the coding rule is met, the code is changed and the change is listed with its date.
This applies to agencies and to everyone else in the same way.
